Northeastern Little League eliminated from regional

Northeastern Little League poses followed its state tournament championship two weeks ago.

The Northeastern 9-10 Little League team fell to New York, 5-4, in Thursday's semifinals of the Mid-Atlantic Regional tournament held in Cranston, Rhode Island.

With the score tied 4-4 in the top of the seventh, New York's Great Kills National Little League scored when Todd Vieira reached on a Northeastern error, allowing the game-winning run to cross the plate.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Northeastern's Ryley Nade-Bishop slapped a two-run double to knot the score at 2-2.

An inning later, Northeastern took a 4-2 lead when Drew Barshinger and Derek Gross picked up back-to-back RBI doubles.

Great Kills pulled even in the top of the fifth with a pair of runs.

Drew Barshinger led Northeastern, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Northeastern was officially eliminated after Delaware beat Maryland, 7-6, in a game played Thursday afternoon.

New York will now face New Jersey for the Mid-Atlantic Region Championship on Friday.

The winner of that game will meet the New England Region champion for the Eastern Regional title on Saturday. 

Northeastern represented Pennsylvania in the Mid-Atlantic Regional after winning the state championship two weeks ago in Morrisville.
