The Nittany Lions are No. 6 in the first Coaches Poll of the 2017 season.

Quarterback Trace McSorley will get a chance for redemption against Pitt in Week 2 in Beaver Stadium. Surprisingly, neither the Pitt or Ohio State games will be played in prime time. Both will start at 3:30 p.m.

The poll, presented by USA Today and Amway, includes Penn State as a Top 10 preseason team for the first time in eight years.

The poll has a distinct top-heavy feel for the Big Ten. Ohio State is ranked second nationally, followed by the Lions and Michigan (ninth) and Wisconsin (10th). Alabama is No. 1.

No other league boasts as many teams in the Top 10.

Penn State finished last season with a No. 5 ranking in the College Football Playoff poll and No. 7 in the Associated Press and Coaches polls.
