Financial tips with MSUFCU: cutting cable costs

Lansing State Journal

It’s great to watch the latest episode of your favorite television show in real time, but the cost of cable is an expensive one. Let’s say you have a cable package that costs $89.99 each month, you will pay $1,079.88 throughout the course of a year. But if you already have internet, you can invest in websites and apps that allow you to stream television shows and movies for much less than cable. These include: Hulu Plus, Netflix, or Sling TV (an app that lets you watch cable live TV programming). If a subscription to a streaming service is $7.99 per month, you only pay $95.88 each year. That’s a savings of $984! If you would like more variety in channels, you can purchase other available devices like a ROKU or an HDTV Antenna for a one-time fee to receive different channels and services. With a savings that high, cutting cable could be cost-effective and allow you to have much more flexibility in your budget.

Cutting your cable TV could save you a lot of money.
