A husband whose spouse claimed that an Ocean City tram struck her foot on the Boardwalk was stunned by a Taser by police for allegedly resisting arrest for disorderly conduct.

"The husband became disorderly and was arrested," said Lindsay Richard, spokeswoman for the Ocean City Police Department. "The husband resisted arrest" and was stunned with a Taser by the arresting officer.

The incident happened about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 20, along a stretch of the Boardwalk served by trams, or trolley-like passenger transport vehicles.

According to Richard, the wife had refused to move from the path of a passing tram, and then claimed that "her foot was run over" by the transport vehicle.

The woman also refused treatment by responding emergency medical services personnel, Richard said.

The woman's husband, meanwhile, became disorderly during the ordeal and placed under arrest, the spokeswoman said. He was stunned with a Taser during the process for resisting arrest, the spokeswoman also said.

More details about the incident should be available in a police report on Friday, July 21, Richard said.

The identities of the husband and wife were not immediately available.
