Trailer full of chickens catches fire on Del. 1
A trailer hauling live chickens caught fire just south of the Dover toll plaza on Del. 1 Thursday afternoon.
Delaware State Police have advised motorists to expect delays.
The chickens' conditions are not yet clear. A photo of the trailer DSP published shows extensive fire damage.
These events are, somehow, pretty common.

A trailer full of live chickens overturned on Del. 1 north of Smyrna in October, an early-morning incident which spilled some of the animals on the highway. Traffic stalled for hours
In August of 2014, an overturned chicken truck on U.S. 13 in Dover similarly snarled traffic. Police said they believed the truck's cargo shifted and caused the crash.
Then in December of 2014, Del. 1 north of Smyrna also had to be closed down when a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer loaded with live chickens blew out a tire, which sparked a fire.
