See Al Pacino as Joe Paterno: HBO releases first photo for movie

Staff report
Al Pacino stars as Joe Paterno in an untitled film project by HBO.

HBO shared the first photo depicting actor Al Pacino as former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno in the studio's untitled film project.

The film will focus on Paterno dealing with the fallout from the child sex abuse scandal involving his former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, HBO has said previously. The all-time winningest coach in major college football history was fired days after Sandusky's November 2011 arrest and died two months later at the age of 85.

HBO also released this description of the film: "Starring Al Pacino, and directed by Barry Levinson, the film centers on Joe Paterno, who, after becoming the winningest coach in college football history, is embroiled in Penn State’s Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal, challenging his legacy and forcing him to face questions of institutional failure regarding the victims."
