Two Lancaster children who were attacked and bitten by a dog June 19 are still recovering after the incident, according to a news release from Penn State Health Children's Hospital.

Dog attack

Charlie and Ruby Warfel suffered puncture wounds to their faces after a dog broke through a fence in Lancaster and attacked the pair, who were strapped in their car seats in a van.

While their mother pulled the dog away from the van, Charlie, 5, and Ruby, 2, had to be hospitalized. Ruby was released June 22, and Charlie was released Tuesday evening from Penn State Health Children's Hospital, according to a news release.

The family has set up an online donation page to help cover the children's medical costs. The account can be accessed at gofundme.com/charlieandruby. As of Wednesday, $58,720 had been raised.
