Where do Michigan State's Miles Bridges and Jaren Jackson Jr. fit in 2018 NBA mock drafts?

Most NBA draft experts are predicting Miles Bridges will be a top-5 pick in the 2018 NBA draft.

A whole two days have passed since the 2017 NBA Draft. That's more than enough time to forget about it all and take a look at 2018.

Yes, 2018 mock drafts are already out.

And for Michigan State fans, that means looking into the crystal ball at Miles Bridges' future. The freshman standout decided to return to East Lansing for his sophomore year — to the surprise of many, but not all — and has the Spartans primed for a big year next season.

If Bridges has another big season and decides to leave, most prognosticators believe the Flint native is no worse than a top-5 pick. Here's hoping Bridges doesn't get Ivan Rabb's fate, the California player who stayed an extra year and went from lottery pick in 2016 all the way down to the second round this year.

But Bridges isn't the only Spartan projected as a lottery pick, thanks to incoming freshman Jaren Jackson Jr., who shot up draft boards with his outstanding AAU play this offseason.

• Rob Dauster of NBC Sports currently has Bridges going No. 3 and is curious how Bridges makes the transition from playing the 4 to being a perimeter player with Jackson and Nick Ward in the post.

Bridges will test whether or not returning to school when you are a projected lottery pick is the dumbest thing that an athlete can do. ... He’s a 6-foot-7 combo-forward that jumps through the roof and can be a multi-positional defender. In a league that prioritizes positionless basketball and values the ability to defend the rim and space the floor, Bridges shot 39 percent from three and averaged 1.5 blocks.

Jaren Jackson Jr. is projected to go in the first round of many 2018 NBA mock drafts.

Dauster has Jackson, described as a late-blooming big man, at No. 7.

(He) has a chance to be a rare Big Ten one-and-done player. ...Not only can Jackson produce at a potential double-double level but he’s also a gifted three-point shooter who is effective in the pick-and-pop game.

• The Big Lead's Jason McIntyre has Bridges going to the Knicks at 3 and Jackson at 16 to the Pistons.

• Andy Bailey over at Bleacher Report has Bridges going at No. 4, with comparisons to Jae Crowder and former MSU star Draymond Green.

His combination of size and athleticism makes him an intriguing combo forward, one of the NBA's hottest positions right now. ... Bridges has enough guard skills to run at the wing, and he's also stout enough to hold his own inside against bigs.

He's got Jackson at No. 10.

•  CBSSports.com's Reid Forgrave says Bridges will go to the Celtics at No. 5.

A possible lottery pick this year, Bridges will move up draft boards in next year's weaker draft as a powerful and explosive athletic freak.

• Forgrave's co-worker at CBS, Gary Parrish, also has Bridges going No. 5, but to the Hawks.

Bridges was the highest-rated college prospect to return to school, and I'm betting he improves his stock because of it. Plus, he could lead Michigan State to a Big Ten title -- and possibly a national title -- before becoming a lottery pick.

He's got Jackson to the Suns at 10.

Jackson is a 6-10 forward who should be terrific next to Bridges in East Lansing. His father played in the NBA - and he will too.

•  Sam Vecenie of the Sporting News also has Bridges going fifth, and the Spartan is Vecenie's pick for national player of the year.

His game is tailor-made for the NBA, as he’s an explosive player with a ton of feel who plays both ends. The biggest question: Is the jump shot for real? If he shoots 40 percent again from 3 next season, it’s game over for a lot of teams in Michigan State’s path.

Jackson's a two-way player with athleticism and that puts him at No. 14.

(He's) a long, 6-11 kid who can shoot from deep with lefty stroke that comes with a slight hitch. ... His motor level should really improve after a year with Tom Izzo.

• You're probably sensing a theme with Bridges at this point. DraftExpress also has Bridges at No. 5. Jackson's at 9.

• Hey, guess who else has Bridges at No. 5? It's Ricky O'Donnell at SB Nation.

(H)e’ll be expected to be the best player in the country for a Michigan State team that could start the year as No. 1 in the polls. Scouts will want to see if his shooting numbers (56 makes at 39 percent) stay consistent.

And how about Jackson? No. 7.

His combination of size (6’10), length (7’4 wingspan), and three-point shooting ability is going make him a commodity in the draft.

•  NBAdraft.net isn't as bullish on Bridges, currently predicting he'll go No. 17 to Milwaukee and actually has Jackson going higher - to the Knicks at No. 8. They say Bridges' NBA comparison is Jerome Kersey.
