EAST LANSING - A preliminary exam for three former Michigan State University football players accused of sexual assault has been pushed back to September 21.

At a pre-exam conference today in East Lansing's 54B District Court, attorneys representing Joshua King, Donnie Corley and Demetric Vance agreed to move the hearing, which had been scheduled for next week.

A pretrial conference is also set for September 15, although the former MSU football players won't have to appear in person for that hearing.

"There's a vast amount of material to review," John Shea, who represents Donnie Corley, said during Thursday's hearing.

Police previously said they spent about 1,500 hours investigating the case before charges were filed last week.

Shea and attorneys representing King and Vance all declined to comment after the hearing.

A woman told police the three former players sexually assaulted her in a bathroom during an on-campus party in January.

They were charged last week in East Lansing, and head coach Mark Dantonio dismissed them from the team shortly after a judge issued arrest warrants.

King, 19, of Darien, Illinois, is charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and a count of capturing an image of an unclothed person. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.

Corley, 19, and Vance, 20, both of Detroit, each face one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. They both face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

All three posted bond shortly after their arraignments.
