Nats surprise military family with emotional reunion
Michelle R. Martinelli
Surprise homecomings by members of the military are always emotional for the families and heartwarming for outsiders, but they're especially touching when their backstories are shared - like when the Washington Nationals introduced this military family at Friday's game against the Texas Rangers.
Lt. Commander Chris Shetter nominated his wife, Amy, and their five kids - from a baby to a 15-year-old - to be honored by the Nats while he completes his fourth deployment. Following the recipe for surprise homecomings, he thanked his family members for their sacrifices in while he serves in a video before walking out on the field for an emotional reunion.
Cue the goosebumps when oldest son Brian realizes his dad is at the ballpark.
