Endless Summer Cruisin' continues in Ocean City through Sunday.

A steady stream of beach cruisers got a jump on the weekend that christens the unofficial start of summer.

"We're jumping," said Amy Mulford, general manager at Wawa on 120th Street in Ocean City. "It's busy here, and the north end is busier."

The annual cruise-in of classic cars and recent summer-like weather were Ocean City attractions on Saturday, May 20, drawing crowds the Ocean City Police Department likened to peak season.

By late morning, crowds were large with no major mishaps, an OCPD police officer confirmed.

Crowds were thick for cruisin' car attractions at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center farther north of The Boardwalk, police said.

Maryland State Police in Berlin described traffic flow through the region to the resort as "steady," but fluid.

"It's a normal, steady flow of traffic," said a duty officer.

A report that a car fire and explosion shut down a retailer's gas pumps was unfounded.

Mulford said weekend visitors to the resort were pouring in Friday, if sales at the convenience store are an indicator.

"We hit a one-day sales record yesterday," she said. "We've been busy."

The cruising car show runs through Sunday.
