Detroit News staffer wins national headline contest

Detroit News copy editor Steve Wilkinson won first place in the ACES national headline contest.

 

 

ACES: The Society for Editing (American Copy Editors Society), announced the winners of the 2016 National Headline Contest at an awards banquet Friday night during ACES’ 21st annual conference in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The contest rewards exceptional headline writing in all types of media, from newspapers to social media networks.

Wilkinson's winning portfolio included “Millennials challenge rules of engagement: More couples decide for themselves what to spend on ring,” and "Flint water mess speaks volumes."
