Arista Veteran Leaves for Rubrik
Mark Smith, former SVP of worldwide sales and business development at Arista Networks, has found a new roost as Rubrik’s EVP of global sales and business development. Rubrik specializes in cloud data management and securing information across private and public clouds.
With Rubrik, Smith expects to focus on winning new enterprise customers, increasing global sales, and increasing repeat customers. Smith had an impressive four-year career with Arista, leading the company’s revenues from $180 million to over $1 billion.
Smith has held several executive marketing positions with companies, including Infoblox, NetScreen Technologies, and Juniper Networks.
Radcom Finds Its First CTO
Service assurance company Radcom appointed Rami Amit to its newly created chief technology officer (CTO) and head of product position. With Radcom, Amit will work to shape the company’s technology strategy in the network functions virtualization (NFV)-ready service assurance market, targeting service providers.
Before joining Radcom, Amit was director of engineering with the Cisco NFV business unit where he was in charge of the company’s broadband products.
Prior to Cisco, Amit served multiple executive roles with companies, including VocalTec Communications, where he focused on voice over IP (VoIP). He also founded Jungo, a software provider for broadband service providers, and Surf & Call Solutions (acquired by CosmoCom).
Fuze Welcomes a New CEO
Cloud-based communications company Fuze announced that Colin Doherty has taken on the role of CEO. Doherty is replacing former Fuze founder and CEO Steve Kokinos, who will now serve as the company’s executive chairman.
Doherty joins Fuze after a decade of various CEO positions with companies, including BTI Systems and Arbor Networks. Most recently Doherty served as CEO with the DNS provider Dyn, which was acquired by Oracle in November.
With expertise in enterprise cloud, SDN, and security technologies, Doherty will help Fuze’s expansion in cloud communications products as well as increase its enterprise customers.
Movers and Shakers
Optical equipment vendor Coriant reportedly cut about 100 jobs at its headquarters in Naperville, Ill, according to LightReading.
Zenos, a monitoring and analytics company, appointed Michael Lovell as its new CFO.
Nutanix brought on former Vice President of IT at GoPro, Wendy Pfeiffer, as its chief information officer (CIO).
Puppet announced the appointment of former Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) executive Omri Gazitt as its chief product officer. The company also named Sandra Hamilton as vice president of customer success.
Mesosphere named Peter Guagenti as the company’s chief marketing officer (CMO), and Yrieix Garnier has taken on the role of VP of products.
As part of the company’s $20 million Series B, Demisto announced that ClearSky Managing Director Jay Leek has joined its board of directors.
Cloud security company Zscaler has brought on Remo Canessa as its CFO.
As reported by SDxCentral, the former Executive Director of the OpenDaylight (ODL) Project, Neela Jacques, stepped down to join Bain Capital Ventures.
Cylance named Daniel Doimo as its new president and COO and will report to CEO Stuart McClure.
Former CA Technologies executive Mark Thompson joined SevOne’s executive team as its chief revenue officer (CRO) where he will oversee global sales.
Internet of Things (IoT) security company Lantronix brought on Shahram Mehraban as its vice president of marketing. Before joining Lantronix, Mehraban served as marketing director and chief of staff of the industrial and energy solutions division of Intel’s IoT Group.
Tom Wheeler, the former chair of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the Obama Administration, was appointed to Actility’s board.
Adtran named Charles Marsh as senior vice president of global sales.
