Saturday's roundup: Macomb Dakota trio leads rout in title game

Macomb Dakota’s production line — led by Jermaine Jackson Jr.’s 28 points and 10 assists — was in full throttle Saturday, leading the team to a lopsided 100-47 victory over Warren Mott in the Macomb Area Conference Red and White Division championship game Saturday at Anchor Bay High.

Dakota's Thomas Kithier added 21 points and 15 points while Jack Ballantyne finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Kithier and Ballantyne each had five assists for Dakota (17-3), which has a week off to prepare for districts.

Jackson, who was 7-of-11 from beyond the arc, had three steals to complement his stellar outing.

“His knowledge of the game is off the charts,” Dakota coach Paul Tocco said. “He had 10 assists, so he gets everyone involved. That’s what makes him a great player.”

Jalen Brown and Howard Turner each had 10 points for Mott (10-8).

Detroit Western 65, Detroit Edison Academy 61: Roven Simpson scored 18, including two free throws with 12 seconds left to ice it. Trey Jackson scored 13 and Laven Bowmen 12 for Western (9-11).

New Haven 84, Lake Shore 56: Eric Williams Jr. scored 28 points to lead New Haven in the MAC Blue and Gold title game and provide coach Tedaro France II with his 150th career victory. New Haven's Romeo Weems had 16 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, seven blocks and seven steals. Ronald Jefferey scored 16 and Ashton Sherrell added 14 for New Haven. Cortez Jackson had 17 points for Lake Shore.

Melvindale ABT 66, Detroit University Prep Science & Math 63: Elijah Smith had 19 points and 12 rebounds and Isaac Brooks added 16 points for Melvindale ABT (4-11) in the Michigan Metro Athletic Conference consolation game. 

River Rouge 64, Hamtramck 22: Darian Owens-White had 17 points and eight assists, and Jarius Grissom had 16 points and eight rebounds as River Rouge (18-1) won the championship game of the Michigan Metro Conference.

Romulus 73, Kalamazoo Central 63: Dylan Price scored 19, Kaevon Merriweather 17 and Daren English had 15 points and 14 rebounds for Romulus (15-4). Isiah Livers scored 16 for Central (17-2).
