One of the greatest Penn State linebackers ever will be in town in a couple of weeks.

Shane Conlan, whose only scholarship offer was Penn State, went on to a Pro Bowl career in the NFL. He will be a headline guest next month at York Area Sports Night.

Same for the multi-talented star who helped lead the Nittany Lions back from dark times.

Shane Conlan, a College Football Hall of Famer and national champion, will help headline the 53rd annual York Area Sports Night Feb. 9 at the Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center.

Former Penn State receiver and punt returning star Derrick Williams will join him.

Sports Night's celebrity list already included two hall of famers — baseball relief pitcher Bruce Sutter and NFL defensive lineman John Randle.

Former Red Lion and University of Maryland offensive lineman Andrew Zeller also is expected to attend.

Shane Conlan, who was elected into the College Football Hall of Fame, led Penn State to its last national title 30 years ago.

Conlan should be the fan favorite. The former All-American led Penn State to its last national title, culminating with the classic Fiesta Bowl victory over the Miami Hurricanes following the 1986 season. He went on to a three-time Pro Bowl career with the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles and St. Louis Rams.

Williams, the nation's top recruit when he signed with the Lions in 2005, led them back from four losing seasons in five years. He sparked the Top Five Orange Bowl run as a true freshman and capped his college career in the Rose Bowl against USC.

The Sports Night program will feature a reception and silent auction from 4 to 6 p.m. Fans can meet the celebrities, collect autographs and bid on sports memorabilia to benefit the York Area Sports Night scholarship program. Tickets are $80 in advance and $100 at the door.

There will also be an exclusive celebrity dinner with a live auction from 6:15 to 8 p.m. for celebrities, hosts, sponsors and guests.
