Police: Man, 28, shot dead after argument with friend
Detroit police are on the lookout for a man they say fatally shot his friend after an argument on the city’s east side Sunday afternoon.
It was about 2 p.m. Sunday when police were alerted to a shooting in the area of Prince Hall Drive and East Vernor. Upon arrival they learned the shooting victim, a 28-year-old Detroit man, had been arguing with a friend, and that “elevated to a fight,” said Michael Woody, director of media relations for the Detroit Police Department.
Police say the suspect pulled a handgun and then chased the victim through the house they were in, eventually shooting him multiple times before fleeing on foot. Medics conveyed the victim to Detroit Receiving Hospital, but he died on arrival.
Police know who the suspect is, Woody said.
“We’re looking for him right now.”
The suspect is described as a 24-year-old black male, 6 feet 5 inches tall, clean shaven with a short Afro. He was wearing a black jacket, brown jeans, black boots, and was armed when last spotted.
According to Michigan State Police, in 2015 — the last year for which numbers are available — arguments are the leading circumstance preceding murders in Michigan, when a circumstance is known.
