A few days after former Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook made  his NFL debut, NFL.com announced that Cook is expected to make  his first NFL start during the Oakland Raiders' playoff game against the Houston Texans.

Oakland Raiders quarterback Connor Cook passes against the Denver Broncos in the first half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, in Denver.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport announced on Twitter that the Raiders are "going forward with the expectation that QB Connor Cook starts vs. #Texans, sources say. Matt McGloin not believed to be ready."

Oakland is headed to Houston to play the Texans in an AFC Wild Card matchup at 4:35 p.m. Saturday.

Matt McGloin left Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos late in the second quarter and did not return after he was driven into the ground by Broncos defensive lineman Jared Crick.

He was then replaced by rookie Cook, the fourth-round pick out of MSU. Cook completed 14 of 21 passes for 150 yards and threw a touchdown and an interception in his debut.
