I never think that anyone should feel beholden to cover their greys – it’s a natural process after all. But, the tricky thing with nature is that it doesn’t keep up with trends – greys can come in patches or in random strands and be truly annoying in their non-uniformity! I still don’t have that many greys but at the moment I’m choosing to dye my hair – less to cover the greys and more to have a richer shade of brown. A few grey strands doesn’t bother me at all, but I have noticed that they do like to appear above my ears! This turns out to be the perfect place to test Zero Grey Root Touch Up Magnetic Powder.

What’s exciting about this product is that it has colour adjusting technology – that bears out when I tried it on my side greys and they are exactly the same colour as the rest of my hair. However, with nobody else to test it on I’m can’t compare it. Using the puff, it was easy to apply – I did get some on my skin but it brushed away easily and yet stayed on my hair. I’m assured this doesn’t come off in the rain – you actually have to wash it out. It’s a binding formula, rather than actually magnetic and if you want to be more specific than the sponge allows (because it is a bit clumsy for fine detailing around the face) use a brush. As you can see, there is also a Back To Blonde alternative – to lighten dark roots on blonde hair. I don’t think I’ve come across this before, and it’s untested until I can find a blonde friend to try it out.

As you can see, there are two spray versions but even though the nozzle is very fine, I found it very hard to be precise. I was also cold on my head! Made by a brand called EverPro Zero Grey is marketed in the US as Gray Away and it gets rave reviews. I saw one comment that said, ‘it’s the best I’ve ever tried’ and I have to agree. It’s outsmarting every other grey cover powder that I’ve seen. Each version has three shade options so you have the best chance of the adaptive match.

You’ll be able to find it for £12.99 (both versions) at Superdrug stores towards the end of December. Mine has gone straight into the Keep drawer!
