MSU women's hoops slips past WMU in OT

A key late 3-pointer by Taryn McCutcheon helped vault the Michigan State women’s basketball team to an overtime victory over Western Michigan on Friday night.

McCutcheon hit a 3 with 1:54 left in the extra session for the Spartans, who escaped Kalamazoo with a 68-64 victory in their first road contest of the season

MSU (4-0) overcame a five-point deficit in the final 1:21 of regulation to force overtime before emerging with the win.

Senior Tori Jankoska, who helped send the game into overtime, had 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Spartans. Jenna Allen added 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, while Taya Reimer scored 13 for MSU. Branndais Agee contributed seven points and a career-high 15 rebounds.

Meredith Shipman had 21 points and nine rebounds to lead Western Michigan (1-1). Waverly graduate Breanna Mobley had eight points and seven rebounds in 31 minutes for the Broncos.
