Outlook: The Red Wings claimed forward Martin Frk off waivers from Carolina, and they assigned him Tuesday to Grand Rapids of the AHL. Carolina claimed Frk off waivers from Detroit on Oct. 9, and he played in two games for the Hurricanes, making his NHL debut Oct. 18 at Edmonton. He spent the previous three seasons in Detroit’s minor league system . . . The Flyers are ready for yet another set of back-to-back games: Wednesday against visiting Detroit and Thursday in Brooklyn against the New York Islanders. That's four sets of back-to-back games in the season's first three weeks. "It's a lot of games, but that's a good thing," said captain Claude Giroux, who says the action gives the team a chance to get into a rhythm.
