Man in fatal stabbing at illegal pot grow in custody

A man whom police had sought in a fatal stabbing at a warehouse in southwest Detroit over the weekend turned himself into police Sunday.

Police said Jason Boyce allegedly stabbed a 55-year-old man multiple times, killing him, in southwest Detroit.

Police said Jason Boyce allegedly stabbed a 55-year-old man multiple times, killing him. The incident occurred around noon in the 100 block of Green, which is off Fort Street and south of Interstate 75.

Boyce turned himself into detectives at the department’s downtown headquarters around 4:30 p.m. Sunday without incident. Investigators were expected to submit their case against Boyce to the prosecutor Monday morning for possible charges.

Officer Jennifer Moreno, a Detroit Police Department spokeswoman, said there was an illegal marijuana grow at the warehouse where the stabbing took place. No other details were available.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for the victim’s name, and cause and manner of death.
