EAST LANSING – Barring a Big Ten championship berth in December, Saturday will be the last time Michigan State fifth-year senior tight end Josiah Price plays a college football game in his home state of Indiana.

He can’t help but feel a little nostalgic.

“It’s personal to be able to go play a game in my hometown,” Price said. “Excited to get down to Bloomington. Really have to get down there and do the things we need to do to be successful and win the football game.”

Price will play in front of his family and about 50 people from his hometown of Greentown on Saturday when the Spartans play Indiana. Price calls Indiana one of his favorite schools; the Hoosiers extended him an offer when he was in high school.

“I love coach (Kevin) Wilson down at IU and their whole coaching staff,” Price said. “I know a lot of guys that play there. I’m a fifth-year senior, a lot of the guys I knew didn’t redshirt so they’re all gone. But I love IU, have a lot of friends that go to IU, so it’s always exciting to go play those games.”

Price, a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy or “Academic Heisman,” said it will be important for the Spartans’ tight end unit to have a good showing to keep up with Indiana’s fast-paced offense.

“I think we have to control the edge, control the line of scrimmage and the blocking, which is one of our goals every week, to try and dominate and block really well,” Price said. “And I think we have to make plays in the passing game, get open and create some awesome opportunities and plays on offense.”
