Dallas Wings forward Aerial Powers was named to the WNBA All-Rookie team on Thursday.

Aerial Powers put together a strong debut season in the WNBA.

And the Detroit native and former Michigan State women's basketball star was recognized for her success by landing a spot on the WNBA's all-rookie team that was announced Thursday .

Powers earned a spot on the all-rookie squad after averaging 10.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in just over 19 minutes for the Dallas Wings. The fifth overall pick in this year's WNBA draft reached double figures scoring in five of her final six games for Dallas. That included registering her first career double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds during a loss to Washington earlier this month.

The rookie honor was the second earned by Powers this month. She was also named to the Associated Press' WNBA all-rookie squad.

Powers, a 6-foot forward, is the first former MSU player to be named to the WNBA all-rookie team.
