EAST LANSING – Mark Dantonio said after the Wisconsin loss that things could get worse for Michigan State.

Michigan State linebacker Jon Reschke

The death of Mylan Hicks early Sunday morning was another emotional hit to the Spartans. The 10th-year coach said this morning that linebacker Jon Reschke is expected to be out for a “significant period of time” with a significant ankle injury.

The 16th-ranked Spartans played without middle linebacker Riley Bullough last week, and Dantonio said he is more day to day. That means MSU could be without two of its starting linebackers when it faces Indiana’s high-tempo offense Saturday in Bloomington, Indiana (8 p.m./Big Ten Network).

Reschke collapsed while trying to rush Wisconsin quarterback Alex Hornibrook early in the third quarter of Saturday’s 30-6 loss to the Badgers. The junior also missed the Furman game with an injury and had been playing with a heavily taped left hand against Notre Dame and Wisconsin.

Reschke has 13 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble.
