Endorsements

These candidates have announced support from outside organizations:

  • Anne Norlander, Republican candidate for county clerk and register of deeds, said she's been endorsed by the Calhoun County Municipal Clerks Association. "Anne is an innovative and highly organized county clerk who works cooperatively with Calhoun County's city, township and village clerks to make the intricate election process the envy of other counties in the state of Michigan," Kathy Case, the group's president, said in a news release. Norlander faces Democrat Joan Melekian in her re-election bid.
  • Treasurer Christine Schauer said her re-election bid has been endorsed by the Service Employees International Union Michigan State Council. Schauer, a Democrat, faces Republican Brian Wensauer in November.
  • Jim Haadsma, Democratic candidate for the 62nd state House District, has been endorsed by the United Food and Commercial Workers. His opponent, Republican incumbent John Bizon, said he's received the support of the Michigan Fraternal Order of Police.
  • Calhoun County Circuit Court judicial candidate John Sims said on his website that he has received the support of former Probate Judge Gary Reed and former District Judge John Holmes. Sims faces opponent Tina Yost in November.
