EAST LANSING – Linebacker Riley Bullough is not dressed today, a major loss for No. 8 Michigan State as it prepares to host No. 10 Wisconsin in its Big Ten opener at Spartan Stadium.

Michigan State University senior linebacker Riley Bullough (30) watches the Irish offense in the second half of the Spartans game against Notre Dame Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 in South Bend, Ind.

Senior captain Bullough is out with an undisclosed injury, a week after he did interviews after the Spartans’ 36-28 win at Notre Dame with an ice bag on his right shoulder underneath his shirt and both of his arms tucked inside it. He is tied for the team lead with 12 tackles and has two quarterback hurries for MSU’s defense.

Bullough started 13 games and played in all 14 games a year ago for the Spartans, with 106 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions.

Junior Shane Jones started at Bullough’s middle linebacker spot despite Bullough’s brother, sophomore Byron, being announced in the press box as the starter. Jones will be flanked by Jon Reschke on the weak side and Chris Frey on the strong side.
