Schroer releases campaign ad

Bill Schroer, Republican candidate for the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners' 4th District seat, has released a video advertisement ahead of next week's primary.

In the ad, Schroer walks near the downtown building he owns and touches on his military and business background, saying he has "the credentials and experience necessary to address the challenges facing our county."

Schroer faces Republican incumbent Steve Frisbie. Democrats Chuck Adams and Kim Andrews-Bingham also are running for the seat.

Smith gets another endorsement

Jake W. Smith, Democratic county board candidate, has been endorsed by the Southwest Michigan Building and Construction Trades Council.

"Smart investments in the maintenance and construction of our infrastructure have the potential to increase residential property values and entice private investment," Smith said in a statement. "This helps strengthen our working class and I'm proud so many individuals and organizations agree."

Smith faces fellow Democrat Nathan Grajek in the primary next week for the board's 3rd District seat. Republican Jolene Lussier also is running.

The seat currently is held by Commissioner Jim Haadsma, who is not seeking re-election and is running for the 62nd District.
