Mosaic announces storytellers for Aug. 4

Battle Creek Enquirer
Crowds listen as Battle Creek Enquirer Executive Editor Michael McCullough speaks to the audience about the Mosaic Storytelling Showcase Tuesday night.

Storytellers will reach into their memories for the Enquirer's next Mosaic Storytelling Showcase.

The ways memories define us, truths uncovered in a mother's journals, memories of a one-room schoolhouse, the sound of a grandfather's voice — these are just a few of the themes performers will touch on at the concert Thursday, Aug. 4.

The evening will include 10 performers: Tina Yost, Jim Miller, Sherii Sherban, Mark Lambert, Meredith Stravers, Dick Strader, Annie Kelley, Ernesto Reyes, Marsha Lambert and Nicole Mullis. Sean Washington will be emcee for the night.

Tickets for the event are $7 and are on sale at the Enquirer's Commerce Pointe offices at 77 E. Michigan Ave., or online at tickets.battlecreekenquirer.com. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit Miles for Memories, a Calhoun County charity that raises money to work against Alzheimer’s.

Jim Miller describes his childhood home during a storytelling exercise for a Mosaic storytelling workshop.

The concert will be the Warehouse,1299 E. Columbia Ave. We’ll have better parking, more food and beverage lines, and improved seating. Food and beverage will be available for purchase from 5 to 6 p.m.

The Aug. 4 concert is the third of four scheduled concerts, but plans are under way for additional events. Anyone interested in performing as a storyteller or otherwise participating in storytelling workshops and events may send an email to mosaic@battlecreekenquirer.com or call Executive Editor Michael McCullough at 269-966-0670.
