Two firefighters injured in Carroll County fire

Two Sykesville volunteer firefighters were injured Friday at a house fire at the 3000 block of Gamber Road in Carroll County, according to a new release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal.

One sustained an ankle sprain and the other sustained a broken wrist. Both were taken to Carroll Hospital Center, the release states.

The fire was caused by an accidental electrical issue at an outlet in a second-floor bedroom, according to the release.

It took 25 minutes for 50 firefighters from Sykesville, Winfield, Reese, Reisterstown, Hampstead, Chestnut Ridge, Arcadia and Baltimore County Fire Departments to control the fire, the release states.

There was about $70,000 worth of damage to the residence and $20,000 worth of damage to its contents, according to the release.

Three adults and a 15-year-old boy were displaced and are staying with family members, the release states.
