As you might imagine, I hate the name ‘Confidence Stick’ for a product that diguises lines, as though a few lines should be reason to deplete your confidence. It’s this kind of messaging that ensures that older women are continually kept in a state of low confidence! I would like to tell them what to do with their stick. However, I have tried it, and to a certain degree, it is quite successful in blurring lines. The formula contains light diffusing powders in a balm like suspension that feels like silicone, so you do know it’s there – feather light we could not call this. However, it claims a mattifying element and that usually does make a product a bit heavier.
I’ve tried it on some lines on the outer corners of my eyes – one eye has more creases than the other (which is normal – it’s my right side that is more creased than left) and it worked more successfully on the lighter creases. So if you have heavy creasing, I’d say that this will do very little, but if they’re more surface creases, you will see a small difference in smoothness. You can use it under make up or over make up, and it’s suggested that you touch up through out the day. I suggest you don’t worry all day about a few lines and get on with your life!
It’s here for £26 if you like the sound of it.

This made me laugh so much.
This is why I keep reading your blog, Jane. Because even with misgivings on marketing etc you are still able to give the product at hand a fair and objective review. Three cheers for you Jane 🙂
thank you Yasmine 🙂
Oh Jane, for goodness sake, the fact is that people feel more confident with smoother skin, nobody is saying lines are bad. I read some of your articles and think you’ve got a real chip on your shoulder about the ageing thing and whilst I grant you’re completely justified in some areas, I think in others you really need to chill out and stop accusing. You review beauty products and that’s your job…a blogger and a beauty industry insider so please… we all feel better with longer lashes, smoother skin, fewer spots etc etc…you MUST know this by now. This brand is not telling you wrinkles are bad.
Maybe you’ll feel different when you have more signs of ageing.. I’ve reviewed the product fairly I think despite not liking the messaging. I don’t accept that it’s a chip exactly but you are right that I would prefer to see a more positive way of speaking to women that doesn’t always focus on flaws – which is why I prefer reviewing make up because it’s almost always age inclusive. I’d love to forward the clock (in a good way!) to see how you feel in say, 20 years time! But you aren’t the first to say this so I’ll try and moderate a little more while keeping my viewpoint.
So I’m in early 30’s and I would also like to be able to jump forward and see if I say “ahhh, right… i see” – I do have some ageing signs coming on… yes yes ok you’ll probably tell me that I have no idea what i’m talking about as i’m ONLY 31 but I’ve started seeing it creep in. I get where you’re coming from truly but I suppose I have this implicit belief that brands aren’t there to make us feel bad, and I don’t believe they are. I go shopping when I want to feel better not when i want to feel worse and largely it does the trick. I don’t take issue with this product saying “you’re not good enough/young enough/pretty enough” – hell if anyone is the one screaming that at me then it’s er…well it’s me!!
But, if you’ve got a positive attitude and you’re enjoying using beauty products for whatever reason.. if they make you happy, then they’re doing their job! All I’m saying is that some women come to feel very downtrodden and fed up about ageing – most of the bigger ageing signs also hit right on time with the menopause which again upsets everything, often emotionally as much as physically. My belief is that it’s not what you do but why you do it so if it makes you happy then we’re really on the same page with that. Just sometimes I want to offer an alternative view – that looking your age isn’t the worst thing that can happen – it’s really okay – and brands that push out a consistent message that ‘banishing’ signs of your age is the best thing an older woman can do rather than celebrating beauty at every age and maybe not placing such importance on the features of your face that show your life.
Would have expected better from Bobbi….!
“I would like to tell them what to do with their stick” ahhhhhaha I just lost it! This is why BBB is my absolute favorite.
Hahahahaha I love your blog!! I’m 100% with you! Come on Bobbi! Give us a break.
