Detroit man with dementia, 74, missing

Detroit Police are asking the public’s help in locating a 74-year-old man with dementia who went missing on Wednesday and needs medical assistance.

Bobby Brown walked away about 2 pm Wednesday from Sinai Grace Hospital, 6001 W. Outer Drive in Detroit. His dementia is exacerbated by high blood pressure, and he had not been taking his blood pressure medicine, according to the family. Brown requires medication, as well as dialysis treatments three times per week.

According to police, Brown is unshaven, about 5-foot-1 inches tall, and weighs 150 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black cap, blue/beige and gray shirt, brown jeans, beige Rockport ankle boots and a black hip length trench coat.

Brown’s daughter, LaKeysia Brooks, said her father typically stays close to his home on Keating, between E. 7 Mile Road and State Fair in Detroit. He also likes to fish at Lake Saint Clair Metropark in Harrison Township, formerly called Metropolitan Beach.

“He’s never stayed away from home,” Brooks said Saturday.
