Jamie Stuck appointed NHBP Tribal Council chair

FULTON — Jamie Stuck has been appointed as the new chairman of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Tribal Council.

The tribe announced the officer appointments Monday, after the council members completed their oaths of office last week. Stuck, of Scotts, has been on the council since 2006 and previously served as vice-chair.

Dorie Rios, on the council since 2010, was appointed vice-chairperson; Christine Lanning, a council member since 2013, was appointed secretary; Tony Day, on the council since 2012, was appointed treasurer; and Homer A. Mandoka, the former chairman who has been on the council since 2002, was appointed sergeant-at-arms.

“The combined wealth of experience and dedication of our Tribal Council will allow us to continue to provide a strong and stable government for our Tribal Members and to ensure that our actions prepare our Tribe to meet the needs of the next seven generations,” Stuck said in a news release.

The tribe, which owns and operates FireKeepers Casino Hotel, has nearly 1,100 members. Its administrative offices are located at the Pine Creek Reservation in Athens Township; it also has a satellite office in Grand Rapids.
