MSU's Jasmine Hines lands deal with L.A. Sparks

Jasmine Hines will try to land a spot in the WNBA with the Los Angeles Sparks,

The former Michigan State center has signed a free agent deal with the Sparks and will have a chance to fight for a spot on their roster.

“This is something that I have dreamed about doing since I was a kid, so to be presented with the opportunity is amazing," Hines said. "I am really excited about the whole process. I just want to thank Coach (Suzy) Merchant and all the coaches at Michigan State, my family and all my teammates for all their support.”

The 6-foot-4 Hines, who returned to MSU for a fifth year after battling injuries during the 2014-15 season, concluded her Spartan career with her best season. Hines averaged a career-best 10.9 points on 56.1 percent shooting and 6.3 rebounds in 34 games this winter, The former Michigan Miss Basketball earned honorable mention all-Big Ten honors and was one of the key performers in a 25-9 season for the Spartans.
