How to Remember to Pray for Prayer Requests

It’s small group prayer request time.

  • Sally is meeting with a friend on Tuesday morning at 9am and intends to talk about Jesus with her.
  • George is going to see another doctor on Thursday at 11:30am about his physical problem that isn’t healing.
  • Tabitha is meeting with her boss on Monday at 2pm to discuss a new opportunity.

You let them know you will be praying for them, especially during the time they are in the middle of the situation. You mean it. But when the day comes, you get busy and don’t remember until hours later.

I have done this. You probably have too.

Power in Prayer

We should not take prayer lightly. There is power in our prayers to God. healing, direction, resources, and opportunities are ust a few of the things that become possible through our requests.

“Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great things, and difficult, which you don’t know.”
Jeremiah 33:3

How can we do better at remembering the things to pray for and when to pray while doing other important things that can take our focused attention?

Prayer Requests and Reminders

We need to capture the things we need to pray for in a prayer journal that we always keep near us. It would also be great if we had a way to interrupt ourselves at key times we need to pray.

This can be done with a paper journal and alarm clock. But I have discovered a better solution for those who carry mobile devices.

Prayer App

Echo is a prayer app designed for both the iPhone and Android devices. The app will keep track of your prayers. The app will remind you to pray. There are even plans to upgrade the app to better support the prayer needs of small groups in the future.
