  • The Fountain Bistro will close Monday to make way for a new concept that will debut in late summer

Changes are coming to the dining options in downtown Detroit’s Campus Martius park.

The Detroit 300 Conservancy announced Friday that the scenic Fountain Bistro will close to make way for a new concept from the owners of 220 Merrill in Birmingham.

John Lambrecht, Kevin Morin and Matt Morin opened Fountain Bistro in 2010. They’ll pass the torch to 800 Parc, LLC, owned by Zaid Elia and Matthew Shiffman. Elia is known for his partnership at 220 Merrill.

The unnamed new restaurant is expected to debut in late summer after a complete renovation including a new floor, ceiling and bar and a bigger kitchen. The patio will become a permanent enclosure and new windows will allow for open-air dining. The new spot will be open daily for lunch and dinner.

The Beach Bar and Grill, a bar and food stand located in the sandy area of the park, will reopen for the season on May 5. This spring and summer it will have an expanded menu to make up for the main restaurant being closed.

Fountain Bistro will close Monday.
