A look a the Spartans' 2016 recruiting class, where it ranks and what still could happen
When: Beginning Wednesday morning, recruits can sign their letters of intent. Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio has a press conference scheduled for 3 p.m. to discuss his latest recruiting class.
Who: As of Tuesday, the Spartans had 20 commitments, six of whom have already ready enrolled at MSU. The other 14 are expected to sign Wednesday, along with perhaps as many as three or four others.

The stars: MSU’s class features a program-best 10 consensus four-star recruits, according to rankings from 247Sports and Rivals.com, including four receivers — Donnie Corley, Cameron Chambers, Justin Layne and Trishton Jackson — and four defensive lineman — ends Josh King and Auston Robertson and tackles Naquan Jones and Mike Panasiuk
Couch: Corley, Chambers might help MSU early; don't expect Messiah at QB
Where it ranks: MSU’s class was ranked 10th nationally by both Rivals and 247Sports, as of Tuesday. By comparison, both sites ranked the Spartans’ 2015 class No. 22.
Midwest flavor: All but one of the 20 committed or enrolled MSU recruits are from Michigan, Ohio, Illinois or Indiana. Last year, MSU had three recruits from Texas, two from Arizona and one each from Virginia, California, Florida, Utah and Kentucky.

Battling traditional powers: At least eight of MSU’s recruits chose the Spartans over scholarship offers from Jim Harbaugh at Michigan and Urban Meyer at Ohio State — Corley, Chambers, Layne, Jones, King, Robertson, offensive tackle Thiyo Lukusa and safety Demetric Vance. Four of them were also coveted by Alabama — Corley, Chambers, Layne and Robertson.

Unfinished business:MSU still has its sights on several players who plan to announce on signing day. Detroit King four-star cornerback Lavert Hill is scheduled to announce his college choice at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Jalen Cochran, a defensive end / linebacker / TE prospect from Canton, is also considering MSU. As is Philadelphia four-star defensive tackle Karamo Dioubate.
