Computing Community Consortium Blog

The goal of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) is to catalyze the computing research community to debate longer range, more audacious research challenges; to build consensus around research visions; to evolve the most promising visions toward clearly defined initiatives; and to work with the funding organizations to move challenges and visions toward funding initiatives. The purpose of this blog is to provide a more immediate, online mechanism for dissemination of visioning concepts and community discussion/debate about them.


NIST Global City Teams Challenge Save the Date

unnamedSave the date for the next of round of the Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC) on November 12-13, 2015. Municipal leaders and innovators will gather at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland for this important event planned by NIST and US Ignite.

The Global City Teams Challenge is an initiative designed to advance the deployment of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies within a smart city/smart community environment. More than 40 project teams or “action clusters” are currently participating in the GCTC. To see a list of current Action Clusters, click here. An agenda for the November event and a summary of changes that NIST and US Ignite have planned for the next round of GCTC will be circulated soon.

In the meantime, you can join NIST and US Igniteon September 17th in Washington DC for the Accelerating Smart City Deployments: Challenges, Competitions and Collaborations from Smart Cities Around the Globe and Across the Region program at Georgetown University.

This event, which is part of Smart Cities Week will highlight smart city solutions and the programs that contribute to successful innovations. The program will present a preview of the Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC) for 2016 and feature an international session and regional session. The program will run from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
