Althea Jett Starling, age 89, of Russellville, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence. Born July 6, 1935, to Theophilus and Mae Ola Jett, Althea was a hardworking and independent woman.
A true Southern lady, she had the gift of hospitality and was beloved for her cooking, sense of humor, and devotion to her family. Althea worked alongside her husband, Roy Earl Starling, and lovingly cared for their children. She worshipped faithfully at the North Highlands Church of Christ, Russellville.
Althea and Earl made their home and raised their children in Apopka and worshipped locally with the Church of Christ.
On Saturday, December 28, at 11:00 a.m., there will be a graveside service at Edgewood-Greenwood Cemetery in Apopka, Florida. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. There will be another service in Alabama.
Althea is survived by her children: Alison Starling Gilliam, Nancy Starling Foster (Joe), John Ivey Starling II (Tena), Adrienne Starling Moore, and Carmen Hemlock Daniels (Mark); her brother, A.J. Jett (Carolyn); 17 grandchildren, multiple great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy Earl Starling, grandson Wallace Burch, sons-in-law Kenneth Gilliam and Monte Moore, five brothers, and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Althea’s memory to Mount Dora Children’s Home, 301 W. 13th Avenue, Mount Dora, FL 32757.

Albert Coleman Stewart better known as (Billy Stewart) passed away peacefully on December 13^th 2024 at the age of 83 with family and friends by his side.

Billy loved his family and enjoyed spending time with everyone. He was a very dedicated worker as a construction superintendent for the majority of his career. His passion was fishing in his Dads Orlando Clipper boat. He would spend hours out on Wekiva River or Lake Jessup reeling in catfish and crappie. He loved fishing with his brothers and pretty much anyone that was willing to go. Billy was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was also willing to offer you a life savers mint.

Billy was blessed to be married to his wife Melaine Stewart for 55 years 1 month and 6 days. After Melaine passed he was dedicated to visiting her grave site daily.

Billy was preceded in death by Father Buford Stewart, Brother Roger Stewart, Mother Mary Agnes Stewart, Beautiful Wife Melaine Stewart, Sister Jane Stewart Pauli and Grandson Kevin Fotheringham

Siblings: Jerry Stewart, Lynn Kennedy, Steve Stewart and Dennis Stewart

Children: Stanley (Karen) Stewart, Jackie Stewart and Jamie (Crystal) Stewart

Grand Children: Danielle Stewart (Garrett) Nuss

Great Grand Children: Cali Nuss and Charlotte Nuss

And many nephews and nieces

His legacy will live on and Billy will be dearly missed by us all

Donna Jo Carver, 74, of Orlando, Florida passed away on December 11, 2024. Ms. Carver was born on February 28, 1950 in Austin, Texas to the late Alvin Lynwood Carver Jr. and Betty Jane Carver. Remigius “Remi” Christopher Birko Jr., 45, of Sorrento, Florida passed away on December 06, 2024. Mr. Birko was born on November 10, 1979 in Winter Garden, Florida. Mr. Birko is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Ray and Betty Birko; maternal grandfather Larry Fleetwood; as well as his brother Cameron Durand. Paul Henry Carroll, 81, of Zellwood, Florida passed away on December 06, 2024. Mr. Carroll was born on February 01, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York. Marilyn was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 27, 1940, to Stanley and Stephanie Mack. She moved to Florida in the 1950s where she met and married Joseph Butler in 1959 and the couple settled in Orlando. Marilyn and Joe had four sons (Todd, Mark, Luke and Matt), grandchildren (Patrick, Catie, Rebekah, Rachel, Laramie, Timothy and Lydia) and a great grandchild (Nicholas). Marilyn lived in Winter Garden, Florida and was preceded in death by her husband Joe and her brother Tom. Marilyn was greatly beloved by her family and friends and was a paragon of politeness, grace and patience. She was also a rabid, lifelong Cubs fan who was finally rewarded for her unreasonable and unwavering devotion to the club and lived to revel in their 2016 World Series Championship. Marilyn trusted in the work and merit of her Savior Jesus Christ for her salvation and is with Him now, beholding His face in glory.

Marilyn’s funeral service will be held at Resurrection Catholic Church at 1211 Winter Garden Vineland Rd. Winter Garden, Fl. 34787 on December 27, 2024 at 12:30 pm.

Frank Louis Zalar, 56, of Tavares, Florida passed away on November 26, 2024. Mr. Zalar was born on September 22, 1968 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvia to the late Frank and Loretta Zalar. It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Edmond Oliver Harrison, affectionately known as Eddie, on December 2, 2024.

Born on March 8, 1943, Eddie lived a fulfilling life full of cherished moments and significant accomplishments.

The beloved Father of Jonathan Edmond (Penni) Harrison and Richard Oliver (Natasha) Harrison, Eddie was a pillar of strength and a role model to his Sons. He was a proud Grandfather to Ashley, Joshua, Jaime, and Rylan Harrison. Their hearts, as well as those of many others he touched are filled with beautiful memories of him. Eddie was predeceased by his loving Wife Rosa Harrison, his Parents, Richard Hobson Harrison and Reba Mae Black Harrison, his Sister, Louise Daniel and his Brothers, Scalon and Carl Harrison.

A man of simple pleasures, Eddie had a deep love for Coca-Cola, a refreshing drink he often enjoyed. He was also an enthusiast of gardening, tractors and fishing, spending many pleasant hours engaged in these activities. Eddie’s love for tractors started at a young age. In 1957, At just 14, he embarked on tractor work to finance his new tractor, a testament to his determination and industrious nature. His passion for tractors wasn’t only recreational, it was also recognized when he won the State Tractor Driving Contest while serving as Treasurer in the Future Farmers of America (FFA).

Edmond’s commitment and bravery transcended his daily life and were exemplified when he served as a Combat Medic in Vietnam from 1966-1967. This period stands as a testament to Eddie’s courage, dedication to service, and unyielding spirit.

Eddie will be remembered for his immense kindness and generosity. His actions left a significant impact on the people around him, painting a legacy that will reverberate in their hearts for years to come. He has left us physically, but his spirit will continue to inspire all those he touched.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
