MARY M. LOMAC (nee MOSES) age 91, wife for 59 years of Ted; mother of Tanya and Lara (Laura McElroy); daughter of the late Clarence and Florence (nee McCracken) Moses.

Mary was born in New Concord, Ohio and studied at Muskingum and OSU. After graduating she began a career in teaching at Shore Junior High in Euclid, Ohio. There she met the love of her life and willing partner in adventure, Ted. Their courtship and early marriage included meeting for dinner after their respective weekly bowling leagues. She loved entertaining, cooking, reading, sewing, knitting, bowling and was always willing to try new things — at least once. She organized many a family vacation adventure that incorporated learning and experiencing new places. After retirement she enjoyed time learning about and traveling to new places with the Road Scholars. She and Ted were season ticket holders of the Cleveland Orchestra, Great Lakes Theater, and Play House Square. She instilled a love of music and culture in her daughters. She was well rounded as an avid fan of the Buckeyes, Browns, and Guardians.  Over the years she and Ted hosted many a party, with good food and good friends. She always loved a worthy theme. She was thoughtful and generous and willing to help where she could. She was witty and mercurial, always trying to put a smile on the face of others. We will miss her positive nature.

DAVID M. KLUK age 73, beloved and devoted lifelong husband for 50 years of Patricia “Patty”  (nee McHugh); loving father of Jennifer (husband Jeff Schill) and Stephanie (husband Vince Lopez); devoted “Papa” of Lauren Becker, Milo Lopez, Jason Schill, Olive Lopez and Daniel Schill; cherished son of  the late Martin and Gloria (nee Smargiassi); dearest brother of Sandra Kluk, Debbie Nelson (husband Michael), Laura Koch (husband Robert) and Robert Kluk (wife Denise); treasured brother-in-law of Ann McHugh and Edward Mallinak and the late Mary Kay and John Fox Sr.; dear uncle, great uncle and friend of many. Survived by his faithful canine companion Loki.

Dave was born on March 9, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, and passed away December 16, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1968 and went on to college at CSU and graduated from Tri-C with his associate degree. Dave worked as a chemist and chief lab manager at NSL Analytical Co. where he retired on September 15, 2017, after 40 years and the mayor of Warrensville Hts. Declared that day as “David Kluk Day”. He participated in the 1992 Cleveland Decathlon, enjoyed making wine, fishing, and was an avid Browns fan, gardener, and loved to cook. His most enjoyment was spending time with his family and going to his grandkid’s events. Dave loved to travel, especially to Disney where he took his family 5 times over the years. Many would describe him as a sociable, hardworking, caring person who was dedicated, strong, and extraordinary with a great sense of humor. Mostly he was a devoted husband, father, and Papa. Dave will be missed dearly by everyone who knew and loved him.

Wendy McDevitt Brooks, 83, of Naples, Florida and Chagrin Falls, Ohio, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 13^th, 2023 surrounded by her family.  She is survived by her children:  Jennifer Truszkowski (Bill) and Amy O’Neil (Mike), and five grandchildren:  Ellie, Claire, and Francie O’Neil, and Katie and Sarah Truszkowski.  She will also be dearly missed by her sisters, Ceci McCurdy, Debbie Blossom and Cackie Eastburn, and sisters-in-law Susie Murphy, and Mary Brooks, and Jayne Brooks;  her nieces and nephews Arthur Brooks Jr., Alison (Brooks) Kohn, Molly (Brooks) Seitz, Peter Brooks, Emily (Murphy) Maksoudian, Beth (Murphy) Ellis and Nora (Murphy) Mills, David Blossom, Stephen Becker, Melissa Lawler, Scott McCurdy and Meagan LaRue.   Wendy was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Bill;  her parents, Warren and Cecelia McDevitt, her brother-in-law Art Brooks and sister-in-law Jane Brooks.

Wendy was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and moved to Chagrin Falls as a young girl.  She grew up in Lake Lucerne, where she was part of a special group of lifelong friends who were affectionately called the “Mud-Puddlers”.  She was a graduate of Kenston High School and attended Miami University, where she was a Delta Gamma. Both her daughters and two of her granddaughters would follow in her footsteps.

Her adventurous spirit led her to great travels around the world.  After Miami she toured Europe by train and bike, and once married enjoyed countless trips with Bill to England, France, Ireland, Alaska, Canada and the Caribbean playing golf and touring.

In her pastime, Wendy played tennis, paddle, and golf at Pine Ridge Country Club and Cantebury Golf Club. Golf soon became her favorite sport, possibly because she outshone Bill with a hole in one!  She was also a member of the Gourmet club, The Junior Committee of the Cleveland Orchestra, as well as a patron of the Cleveland Playhouse.

Wendy resided in Chagrin until 2001, when she and Bill began spending more time in Naples, Florida and became residents of Wilderness Country Club where they met many dear friends.

Wendy will be remembered by her beauty inside and out, fun loving personality, kindness and wicked sense of humor.  She was a loving mother and grandmother, was extremely loyal, kind hearted, independent and strong.  She was always up for a fun time, and loved nothing more than catching up over a glass of chardonnay.  Always authentic and a voice of reason, she was beloved to all of the people in her life and will be dearly missed.

JOHN F. CAPRETTA age 76, beloved husband for 56 years of Betty Ann (nee Morocco); loving father of John (wife Maria) and Jolie Patriarco (husband Bob); devoted grandfather of Nick, Joe and Gina Capretta, Sam and Mia Patriarco and Luke Schoefield; cherished son of  the late Fred and Erma (nee Catullo); dearest brother of Domenic (wife Emily, deceased), Fred (wife Donna) and Rick (wife Debbie) and brother-in-law of Rosemary Grenig, Sue Langfellow (husband Wally) and the late Carm Di Barto; dear uncle and great-uncle, cousin and friend of many.

John was born on October 15, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in South Euclid and graduated from Brush High School in 1965. He has lived in Aurora for the last 18 years. After graduating high school, John attended Tri-C where he earned an associate degree and has worked as a sales executive. John was an avid sports fan but his favorite team was the NY Yankees. He enjoyed listening to the Rolling Stones, Elvis, Rat Pak and Motown. His greatest joy was his family. John can be described as a sociable, friendly and loyal man with a great sense of humor as he loved to tell jokes and had a quick wit about him. He was also extremely devoted to his family and to his faith. Sadly, John passed away on December 13, 2023, surround by his loving family. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Gloria Jean Snyder (née Oblander, formerly Krause), 74, of Willoughby Hills passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023.  She was born January 27, 1949 in Cleveland, OH to Glenn and Nancy (Summers) Oblander.

She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence Snyder; her sister, Kym Judson (Bruce Roberts); and her children, Autumn, Sean (Susan), Dana (Anna), and Rory Krause (Joyce Menart). She was a proud grandmother of 11 to Kait, Sydney, Tyler, Emma, Brandon, Makenna, Kennadee, Mason, Aleksandra, Inessa, and Eli.  She was a loving aunt and stand-in grandma, “Auntie Grandma,” to her nieces, Charlise (Matt) Achterhof and Arica (Jeff) Busser and to her great nieces and nephew,  Rayna, J.J., and Jade.  She is preceded to heaven by her parents, her sister, Robin M. Oblander, and brother, Glenn J. Oblander, Jr.

She retired last year from her job as IT Manager for the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine; a career she truly enjoyed. Gloria was always on the go with her friends and attending her grandchildren’s sporting and dance events.  She was a wonderful cook, always the life of the party, and enjoyed chair yoga and sewing with her quilting club.

Gloria loved to travel with her husband, Larry, and her adventures took her as far as Thailand, Greece, and Egypt. Sadly, her illness over the past year prevented her from even more adventures that she had planned for her retirement.

Gloria was warm and caring and leaves a hole in the hearts of those who knew her, loved her, and mourn her loss. There will be a private interment, at a later date, at Lake View Cemetery, Cleveland, OH. Her family will hold a Celebration of the life of our lovely, beloved Glo this coming Summer.  As per her wishes, and true to her joyful nature, she wants to be remembered with food, family, love, laughter, and a big party.

Ann Ella Rasper (née Fenohr)

Deeply beloved wife for 67 years of Richard (Dick) Rasper. Cherished mother of Rick (Ellen), Barb Schroeder (Kevin), Amy Bechhold (Bruce). Loving grandmother of ten and great grandmother of three.

Ann Ella and her husband dedicated their lives to the education field and Ann Ella spent 38 years as a teacher. She impacted the lives and futures of thousands of students. But her true passion was her family, and they all greatly benefited from her unwavering love and support. The family would like to thank Dr. Aneel Chowdhary and nurse, Sarah Reimer, her oncology team, for their excellent care and kindness. And Ella leaves behind a legacy of family, faith and friendship. She lived her life as an example of a true Christian. And Ella and Dick were a long-time members of Parkside Church, where they formed lifelong, deep and meaningful friendships. The family is at peace, knowing that she is now in the loving care of Jesus Christ, her Lord and savior.

Ann Ella’s memorial service will be held at Parkside Church, 7100 Pettibone Road, Chagrin Falls, OH 44023, on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 2PM.

SAM A. DAHER age 59, beloved husband for 18 years of JoAnn (nee Bystrom); cherished son of Aref and Marie (nee Sayegh); dearest brother of Simon (wife Jennie) and Steve (wife Genna); loving son-in-law of Larry and Kathy (nee Marriott) Bystrom; devoted brother-in-law of Ron and Steve (wife Shannon) Bystrom; dear nephew, uncle, cousin and friend of many. Survived by his feline companion, Tweeters.

Sam was born in Beirut, Lebanon on August 22, 1964 and immigrated to the United States in 1970.  He graduated from Brush High School in 1983 and received his degree in finance in 1987 from The Ohio State University.  Sam went on to become the Director of Data Analytics for the IT ExchangeNet.  Sam was an avid fan of the Cavs, Cleveland Browns, Indians, and the OSU Buckeyes.  He found great enjoyment in technology, classic rock music and traveling, which included cruises and national parks.  Family describes Sam as quiet, easy going, kind, helpful, dedicated, and selfless with a great sense of humor and love for his cats.  Sam passed away on December 12, 2023 and will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.

On December 12, 2023, Babe passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family leaving her family missing her endlessly. Babe was born on November 16, 1927 and resided in Mayfield Heights since 1959.  She graduated from John Hay High School in 1945 and served as an accounting clerk for the Board of Elections and the Ohio Lottery.  Growing up, she proudly worked at her family’s grocery store, Savoca Food Mart, located at 61^st and Woodland.  Babe’s hobbies included bocce ball, dancing, cooking, and cheering on the Cleveland Indians/Guardians and the Tampa Bay Rays.   The Italian Rat Pack was her favorite music.  Traveling to Naples Florida and throughout Europe, specifically Italy, brought her great enjoyment.  Her family describes Babe as strong willed, feisty, sociable, strongly opinionated with a great sense of humor, and a party lover who never turned down a party invitation.
