It was damp stretched last night ready for the final section to be embellished before I line it and put it together.
There's a 'freshness' to gingham that I love.

There are four more waiting to be done, I'm slowly getting there.

I have finally started the process of finishing these pieces in order to create another cloth sample book.
After thinking about it I decided to use cloth headers, it really is the most practical solution.
The strips of Liberty print fabric that are pinned here will be embellished with hand stitch at the seam.
There are seven more pieces requiring headers and once they are all finished with decorative embroidery they will be joined to finish the new cloth sample book.
A little surface design happening over in class.
Collage, ribbon, papers, tags...all hand stitched to a white base.
This work is moving on, can't show you yet but I'm getting there.
I've been gathering, or more accurately 'scrabbling' around to find things that will fit as I progress my latest design collection.
I think I have fallen a bit short to be honest.
It's true when they say you can have a house full of stuff but still not have the one thing you need!
I'll crack on and make the most of what I've got, I will try and be inventive
(don't laugh)
A table full of samples.
There are ten 'pieces' here.
I say ten pieces but there are many more than that as each piece is made up of at least two embroidered samples.
They need to be attached? joined? a cloth book? or maybe a folded situation? joining these at the side edges not the top edges?
That option needs thought....maybe a border of cloth on that edge which can be folded without folding the embroidered samples?
I'll have a think.
Yes, more patchwork, more Grandmothers flower garden.
If you look at the first image there is quite a large piece of patchworked hexagons, it looks a little bit like Australia to me!
It's at the top of that image.
A little while ago...OK.....quite along time ago I had a plan for a single bed size patchwork coverlet.
That's as far as I got.
What can I say, distractions, daunted.....
But, last night, looking at my recently pieced Grandmothers flower garden patchwork it occurred to me that I could add them to the Australia piece.
Nothing would match.
It would be a mishmash of all sorts.
What do you reckon?

(I'm sure you know what mishmash means but I do love a definition)
A little patchwork today, Grandmothers flower garden, hexagons.
I love making these, I lose myself, repetitive, meditative stitching.
There are no plans for these as yet but that's OK, they're here, they will be used at some point.
I'm in no rush.

A pile of hand stitched pillows......three of them for pins and the other for? whatever you wish.
All completely hand made, hand sewn seams, hand sewn edges, hand made Suffolk puffs.
These are now listed in the shop.
There's a little bit of weaving going on.
These are samples which will inform a little design work I am doing with my online class.
One piece is just cloth, the other has cloth strips woven through some threads I wrapped on the sewing machine.
Two very different pieces.
Let's see where they go from here.
Oversized, stuffed Suffolk puffs.
Finishing touches for these two panels which will soon become a pillow.
The approximate size of this is twelve by ten inches.
There have been a few pillows created over the past couple of weeks which will be for sale very soon.
I'll let you know when they are in the shop.
Titivate, spruce, smarten, and spiff all mean "to make a person or thing neater or more attractive."
Just a hand full of stuffed Suffolk puffs for an edge or maybe a seam.
Surface design, a new design sheet, each torn piece of paper hand stitched to an A3 base of white.
The end goal here is a design collection which leads to the creation of a drawstring pouch.
As I am working on this in class it's slow going.
Videos are posted monthly so I'm trying to rein myself in and not get carried away!
Little mix and match pieces.
Liberty fabric and gingham.
These will be six inches square when they're finished.
There are Suffolk puffs and there's likely to be more prairie points.
They're fiddly but I don't mind a bit of fiddly.
Just putting a small piece together, using my stash of Liberty fabrics on a silk dupion base.
There are prairie points here and there will be Suffolk puffs.
I'm thinking minimal embroidery, perhaps just a little stab stitch to secure these pieces.
Hopefully the Suffolk puffs will add enough of a finishing touch on here.
I tried. I did honestly.
I was ruthless.
It's amazing how much junk you shove in a cupboard (or a glass cabinet).
It's tidy.....ish now.
But.
How many artist books are too many?
How many pin pillows are too many?
How many hand embroidered pouches are too many?
How many embroidered sample books are too many?
And with that in mind.
Why am I currently embroidering more pillows?
Why am I currently finishing another artist book?
Just be thankful I'm not embroidering another pouch.
Yet.
This piece has moved on.....the patchwork panel has been applied to a base of silk dupion as have three applique circles.
Two of the circles have been edged with masses of French knots, the third is in progress.
Next step....gimp stalks attached with bullion knots.
A new plan involving patchwork and applique.
It's early days....
The little book you have been watching evolve is now finished and for sale in my Big Cartel shop.
Five pages, sewn tissue bases heavily embellished with hand embroidery and scraps of vintage cloth.
Each page backed with stitched tissues before being joined with handmade ball buttons.
This one has been 'in progress' for some time, always a joy to pick up and embroider.

I haven't yet decided if the front of this little pillow is finished.
The white space is asking should I add web stitches there.
Whilst I decide I have pinned the reverse with ribbon and prairie points.
These will be secured with more hand embroidered French knots.

In my last post about this hand embroidered artist book I mentioned how the next stage would be to back each page.
That is happening now and I am about to create a front and back cover, again from delicate stitched papers.
I demonstrate the backing process in the video today.
In the video I also show a glimpse of the embellishment on each page, pages created by first stitching delicate tissue papers and tearing them to create surfaces for hand embroidery.
I made a decision on which ribbon to use after this post.
French knots and prairie points have been added and the next step? more ribbon?
I'm not sure.
I am tempted to add web stitches to the space around the patchwork motifs but that's as far as my thinking has gone.
(this piece will be a pillow, a gift.....I hope they like it)

I was marking and cutting out patchwork pieces for a new project.
This is where I am now with that embroidery/patchwork.
Two floral patchwork pieces have been attached to one side of a silk dupion panel and now it's decision time for ribbon/trim to lie alongside that.
More embellishment will be added to the right hand side of the panel once the ribbon has been secured with hand stitch.
