Membership Rewards points usually transfer to Hilton on a 1,000:2,000 basis. That means that this new 30% transfer bonus increases that ratio to 1,000:2,600.

It’s been precisely two years since Amex last launched a 30% bonus to Hilton. Back then, our Reasonable Redemption Value for Hilton Honors points was something like 0.45-0.5 cents per point, but that value has dropped a couple of times since then to only 0.35 cents per point. That means that unless you’re getting outsized value, you’d be getting less than 1 cent per point of value from your Membership Rewards points if transferring to Hilton during this transfer bonus which is poor.

Quick Thoughts

The double points offer is straightforward enough. You have to register for the promo first, then it’s valid on all stays worldwide through the end of 2026.

The $31 bonus card offer has a few more important nuances. For starters, you have to register for the promo, then book your stay(s) by September 7, with stay dates being valid through the end of 2026. You’ll receive one $31 bonus card per stay rather than per night, with the total value of bonus cards being capped at $124 (i.e. it’s capped at four stays during the promo period). Best Western is referring to them as gift cards, but I always refer to them as bonus cards because gift cards aren’t supposed to expire, whereas these bonus cards will expire on March 1, 2027. The bonus card promo is also only valid on stays in the US, Canada, and the Caribbean.

The terms for both offers state that the “Promotion is not valid with any other offer, promotion, or discount.” That suggests that you won’t be able to stack the two promos, but my understanding is that it’s always been possible to stack Best Western promos such as these in the past, so hopefully nothing’s changed. Do note though that you’ll only be able to stack them for stays in the US, Canada, and the Caribbean; if your Best Western stay(s) will be taking place elsewhere in the world, you’ll only be eligible for the double points promo.

There are a couple of additional ways to save money on your stay(s). Through September 2, Best Western is offering $20 bonus cards when buying $100 gift cards. The $20 bonus cards are valid through February 28, 2027, so you’d be able to pay for your stay(s) with those.

There’s also a Best Western and SureStay Amex Offer that’s giving $50 back when spending $250+ at properties in the US and Canada.

Don’t forget to click through from a shopping portal in order to earn rewards that way as well.

Capital One has now launched another 30% transfer bonus which almost—but not quite—makes it a 1:1 transfer ratio.

Capital One miles normally transfer to Japan Airlines on a 1,000:750 basis. This transfer bonus therefore increases that ratio to almost parity at 1,000:975. While it’s a shame that the normal ratio isn’t 1,000:1,000 as the bonus would make that 1,000:1,300, it is still possible to get good value from an almost 1:1 transfer ratio.

The Deal

Quick Thoughts

If you’re not familiar with how IHG Points + Cash bookings work, you redeem a certain number of points, plus you pay a cash co-pay for the rest of the cost. That cash co-pay is, in effect, buying the additional points needed to book the room. As a result, if you subsequently cancel the stay you’ll get the refund entirely in points, rather than a refund of both the points and cash.

Ordinarily, this can be a good way to buy points at a discount, with the cost per point only being slightly more than during points sales when IHG offers a 100% bonus when buying points. The cash and points portions can vary slightly from property to property, plus the different thresholds in pricing for any given room offer different values.

For example, take this Candlewood Suites hotel. You can redeem 33K points for a standard award stay, or anything ranging from 8K-29K points plus a cash co-pay ranging from $127 down to $28. As you can see, if you’re targeted for this Points + Cash promotion, you’ll see the regular cash price struck through, with the discounted amount displayed beneath.

Those different thresholds buy IHG points at different prices. At the high end, booking the 29K points + $28 rate means you’re buying 4K points for $28 which is a 0.7 cents per point rate. At the other end of the spectrum, booking the 8K + $127 rate means you’re buying 25K points for $127 which is a 0.51 cents per point rate.

That’s better than normal Points + Cash pricing, but it’s still ever-so-slightly more expensive than the current 100% points sale which means you can buy the points for 0.5 cents per point.

Bilt has announced its Rent Day promos for September 1st, headlined by a 25%-100% bonus on points transfers to Virgin Atlantic. The bonus size depends on Bilt status, with Blue members starting at 25% and Platinum members topping out at 100% with a $200 Bilt Cash buy-up.

In addition to the transfer bonus, Bilt cardholders will once again have the opportunity to earn 2x points on credit card purchases on Rent Day (up to 1,000 bonus points).

The Deal

• On September 1st, Bilt Rewards Members will be eligible for a 25-100% transfer bonus, depending on their Bilt status:

Quick Thoughts

I’m never one to look a transfer bonus in the mouth, but it’s worth keeping in mind that, for the vast majority of Bilt members, these percentages aren’t terribly noteworthy. We see yearly 40% transfer bonuses to Virgin from Amex and Chase, and 30% bonuses come along every couple of months.

Rent Day transfer bonuses have understandably moderated over the last year, and this year’s top-level airline bonuses have been capped at 100%-125%, with the top level only attainable for Platinum members using a Bilt Cash supplement.

In contrast, the amount of Bilt Cash required for a tier upgrade has been on the way up. It started at $75 early in the year, then went to $125 or $135, then $150. Now it’s $200, the same price as a point accelerator. That might be worth it to go from 75%-100% or 45%-75%, but I wouldn’t use it for the 10% uplift offered to Blue and Silver members unless you’re desperate for Virgin Points.

A couple of years ago, Bilt offered up to a 150% transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic, starting at 75% for basic Blue members. That was a good time to transfer speculatively; I’d have a hard time doing it this time around, given the numerous bonuses that we see from other currencies throughout the year.

If you do transfer to Virgin Atlantic, you can book economy saver awards between the US and UK from 6K Virgin points (albeit with a hefty amount in taxes/fees as well), while one-way premium economy awards between the US and UK are available starting at 10,500 points. If you’re more interested in booking business class tickets, select dates and routes can be as low as 29K, plus ~$700 in taxes and fees.

This transfer bonus could also come in handy for other Virgin redemptions like cruises with Virgin Voyages or this all-inclusive stay at Finch Hattons in Kenya. You can also book three nights at Necker Island for two people for 750K Virgin points, with each additional night costing 250K points.

Rove truly is a fascinating transferable points currency, with one of the main reasons being its wealth of unique transfer partners.

While they have several transfer partners that are partners with one or more other transferable currencies, Rove now has seven unique transfer partners:

• Copa Airlines
• Frontier
• Hainan Airlines
• Lufthansa group / Miles & More
• Scandinavian Airlines
• Vietnam Airlines

Similar to Bilt’s ability to get both Hyatt and American Airlines on board when they first launched, it’s impressive that Rove has managed to strike up partnerships with all these loyalty programs considering none of them previously partnered with any US transferable programs.

It’s also smart on Rove’s part to focus on inking these types of unique partnerships because it certainly helps differentiate themselves from their competitors. If Rove had instead focused solely on promiscuous loyalty programs like Virgin Atlantic, Singapore Airlines, Avios, etc., there wouldn’t be much of a reason to collect their miles over other transferable points. Having access to a set of unique programs with their own set of sweet spots makes it a far more compelling proposition.

One benefit of booking awards with Copa Airlines ConnectMiles is that there are no surcharges with partner airlines like ANA, Emirates, Lufthansa, and Swiss. The lack of surcharges on Emirates in particular could be awesome, especially because saver business class awards between the US to Dubai (as well as the rest of the Middle East and Africa) is 80K miles. Whether you can find saver availability in Emirates business class with Copa miles is another matter though; I struck out when running a bunch of searches for this post.

One of the biggest issues with Copa might be finding saver availability on partner airlines as non-saver awards can be far more expensive. For example, I believe that partner saver awards from the US to Australia should be 40K in economy and 80K in business. However, the cheapest pricing I could find was 90K in economy and 360K in business. My searches weren’t comprehensive, although I did check several different routes and dates and that was the lowest pricing I was able to find.

Rove also states that Copa has enhanced access to award availability with United. Depending on quite how enhanced that is, it could prove to be very useful if you’re not a United cardholder and therefore don’t have access to the expanded award availability that cardholders get access to.

inKind has had a number of Amex Offers and other discounts over the past couple of years. I ignored it for a while, but then finally signed up and have enjoyed the couple of chances I’ve had to use it.

For those unaware, inKind is a payment app. Participating restaurants allow you to settle your restaurant tab within the app, eliminating the need to give your credit card to the server (and wait for them to return with it). I was skeptical as to how useful this would be, but I’ve used it several times now and found it easy to use and convenient to simply type the check number into the app and settle the bill without any wait time.

The drawback, of course, is that you’re limited to restaurants that accept inKind payments. They certainly aren’t everywhere, though the footprint seems to be growing. Nick used it at Chef José Andrés’s Jaleo DC and Michelin-starred Gramercy Tavern in New York City, and I’ve been able to use it at several well-regarded spots in Seattle.

If you have a Costco Executive membership, you’ll also earn 2% back on the purchase as that’s earned even on gift card purchases like these.

Quick Thoughts

Points can generally be used at a value of 1 cent per point toward Carnival purchases or onboard credits. That makes the bonus worth $500 if you intend to cruise with Carnival. While Carnival rewards points won’t float your boat if you’re not interested in cruising with Carnival in the near term, that’s a great return if you do intend to cruise with Carnival soon.

The card now earns 3 Carnival Rewards points per dollar spent on Carnival (versus the previous 2). It now adds a 2x bonus category for restaurants and groceries and offers 1 status point per dollar spent. While the grocery and restaurant bonus categories aren’t compelling, I suppose that some folks who are intending to chase Carnival Elite status might find this card useful in bridging the gap, particularly for those who might do so with onboard purchases.

Note that the card also offers 2,500 Carnival points each year at anniversary if you spend $2,000 or more on the card over the course of your cardmember year.

I wouldn’t personally find this card very interesting in the long term, but I could certainly see the short-term appeal if you have a booking on your horizon.

The platform offers cash management accounts as well as crypto- and equities-based investing. Through August 31, 2026, they are offering a new customer bonus whereby if you deposit $10,000 in cash or crypto and hold those deposits at GalaxyOne for at least 120 days, you’ll earn a $1,000 bonus. That’ll be deposited into your account as cash and can be invested or withdrawn as you see fit.

I’m not very familiar with GalaxyOne, but Doctor of Credit posted about this opportunity during a brief window when they offered a $3,000 bonus with a $10,000 deposit. That promotion ended very quickly, but this $1,000 promotion is on through the end of today (August 31, 2026).

Quick Thoughts

On the surface, this looks like an excellent bonus, considering the high dollar figure, the reasonable deposit amount for that type of bonus, and a pretty reasonable hold period. Open an account, deposit $10,000 within the first 30 days, keep that money at GalaxyOne for 120 days, and earn $1,000. That’s pretty simple, and I can imagine this would be pretty appealing for some readers.

Keep in mind that this is a fintech, not a bank, and if you choose to get involved with their “Galaxy Premier Yield” account that currently offers 8% APY, that money is not FDIC insured. They also offer a cash management account, reportedly with FDIC insurance, at 3.5% APY, as well as the ability to invest in either crypto or traditional equities like stocks and ETFs.

I haven’t signed up for the platform myself, largely because I’m not familiar with it. I’ve done plenty of fintech-type bonuses over the years, though most of them with smaller deposit requirements. The larger deposit requirement here gives me some pause even though the bonus looks very attractive. As a publicly traded company that’s been around for almost a decade, I’m sure some readers are probably more familiar with Galaxy (the parent company) and more willing to take a shot at this bonus. I’m probably going to pass this time around, but it does look pretty attractive.

As for the terms, you need to keep the $10K cash or crypto deposited in GalaxyOne for 120 days. You can invest that money, and you won’t be disqualified from earning the bonus based on market losses. In other words, if you invest and your balance dips below $10,000, that won’t prevent you from getting the bonus. However, if you make withdrawals or have deposits reversed during those 120 days, you will forfeit your chance at the bonus.

Just keep in mind the GalaxyOne is not a bank, but rather works as an intermediary. Some will be pretty comfortable with that, given the number of similar entities on the market, and others won’t be interested. Both perspectives are fair.

As always with these deals, the best option is to buy in three-card increments, as Office Depot/Max gives a $15 discount for every $300 you spend. So, buying three cards means you’re spending $600, which takes off $30. Buying nine cards means you should get $90 off, but YMMV as to whether a store will let you do that.

For every three cards you buy, you’ll pay $23.85 in fees (3x$7.95), giving you a net $6.15 in profit in addition to any additional rewards. Buying nine cards at a time triples both the profit and rewards (but will likely involve an ID check to make sure that the payment you’re using is yours).

The personal Gold and Platinum cards each provide a statement credit to go with the miles you get after meeting the minimum spending requirement: $250 for the Gold and $300 for the Platinum. Unfortunately, they also use that silly “as high as” language, so you won’t know the actual number of SkyMiles on offer until after you go through the application process.

The Delta Reserve is interesting, as it includes certificates good for two domestic round-trip Delta Comfort flights (excludes Hawai’i and Alaska), plus 50,000 SkyMiles. I can’t recall ever seeing flight certs as part of a Delta welcome offer before, and how tempted you are will depend entirely on how much value you can wring out of them.

Both the increased business and consumer card offers expire on 11/4/26.

It’s interesting how we’re seeing Amex play around with non-points and miles incentives on the welcome offers for its travel credit cards. It’s currently offering statement credits for general spending on both the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy and Brilliant cards, and now we see that same strategy applied to the Delta Gold and Platinum cards.

The Reserve is undoubtedly the most novel, as I believe it’s the first time that we’ve seen flight certificates as part of a Delta welcome offer. In this case, it’s two round-trip certificates for Main Cabin or Comfort seats, plus the 50,000 SkyMiles you get after meeting the minimum spend.

That could be an incredible deal in the right hands, but there are several limitations to the certificates that affect how we valued them:

• Only valid for travel to the U.S. 48, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands
• 21-day advance purchase required
• Travel must be booked and completed by January 15, 2028.
• Up to $80 in taxes/fees will be charged.
• No multi-city/open jaw are allowed
• The Certificate is not transferable and must be redeemed by the Basic Card Member.
• The Basic Card Member to whom the certificate is issued must be listed as a passenger on the reservation
• Tickets purchased using a certificate will not accrue miles or Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQD)

Although the certs can be used for Comfort seating, which is an improvement on regular economy domestically, the card member has to be flying on the reservation; the flights don’t earn miles or MQDs; you have to book at least 21 days before departure; and they expire in early 2028 (which is a generous time frame compared to most travel certs).

Because of that, we valued the certs conservatively at $400 each, which dramatically affects the Reserve card’s first-year value. Some people will find them much more appealing; if that’s you, add the difference to create your own value (i.e., if you think they’re worth $500 each, add $200 to our first-year value).

One interesting point is that, contrary to what you might expect, the most lucrative welcome offer (based on our first-year values) of the three is the Delta Gold. This is because it has almost the same SkyMiles and statement credit as the Platinum card, waives the first-year annual fee, and has the lowest spend requirement. It’s a great offer for a $3K minimum spend.

Regardless of the miles earned, if you’re interested in elite status, the Platinum and Reserve cards can be excellent choices thanks to their $2,500 MQD Headstarts. See our post “Shortcuts to Delta Elite status” for complete details.

It’s been a few months since I’ve seen a spending bonus on one of my Hilton cards. On this one, hitting exactly $1,000 in spending effectively gives you an additional 5x earnings. We value Hilton Honors points at ~.35 cents each, so the additional 5x adds up to ~1.75% in additional return. Yippee?

That certainly doesn’t sound like much, but I was targeted on a Hilton Surpass card, which earns 6x on grocery and gas and 3x everywhere and also awards a free night certificate (FNC) after $15K in yearly spend.

Let’s say I was plugging away at the yearly $15,000 spend requirement for that card. Adding this bonus means I’m now getting a total of 8x-11x on my next $3k in spend, or 15,000 additional points added to my total, assuming that I can spend $3K to trigger the offer three times before it expires. If you’re planning to spend $15K for the yearly free night certificate anyway, that’s a nice little sweetener for the spending you were already going to do.

Silver status doesn’t exactly give you a dazzling array of benefits; a welcome drink, late checkout, and increased points earning are the main carrots. Still, the price is right, and if you think you’ll have an Accor stay happening before the end of the year, you might as well take a second to register if you’re targeted.

I’m not sure how widely targeted this promo is, and some folks may have access to higher statuses, like Gold or Platinum. That said, if you are targeted and have a stay planned at an Accor property, you might as well take advantage.

There are lots of newly minted Accor elite members, courtesy of Bilt’s recent Rent Day promo; seeing this promo follow so closely on its heels suggests Accor is trying to engage more potential customers in North America, where the program’s footprint is relatively small compared to Asia, South America, and Europe.

Stephen was targeted for this promo via email today, so it may be worth checking your spam folder to see if you were too, or whether you have access to a higher status.

Quick Thoughts

When buying third-party gift cards, you can earn 4x fuel points, saving you up to 14% on gas. To illustrate how that 14% figure is calculated, let’s say you spend $250 on gift cards during the promotion. That would earn you 1,000 fuel points, which you can redeem for $1 off per gallon on up to 35 gallons. If you can refuel to that 35-gallon limit (perhaps with a large gas tank or by refueling 2+ household vehicles at once), you’d save $35. Saving $35 on the original $250 in gift card spend amounts to a 14% discount.

If your gas tank is smaller, though, your savings won’t be as high. For example, our car holds at most 12 gallons, so we can barely save 5% on gas through these promotions, given how much we spend on gift cards. You can often get better gift card discounts through sites like Raise, so weigh your options before buying at full price from Kroger or its affiliates, such as Dillons, King Soopers, Ralphs, Fry’s, or Smith’s.

You can earn 4x fuel points on gift cards purchased online or in-store, though there are a couple of important differences between the two. If you’re buying in-store, you’ll need to load the digital coupons to your account first, whereas you’ll automatically earn 4x fuel points when buying gift cards online from Kroger.

Another thing to keep in mind is that buying gift cards in-store lets you take advantage of the many cards offering bonus spend at grocery stores right now. Kroger’s online gift card site processes payments through Blackhawk Network (the owner of GiftCards.com), so those online orders don’t count as grocery purchases.

Quick Thoughts

Wells Fargo just extended its $400 offer last week, and we received a few comments from folks who had been targeted for this $500 option. At the time, it seemed like you had to receive an offer from Wells to be eligible, but this public page doesn’t have any terms specifying that, so it should be good for anyone.

Wells Fargo has a broad definition of “direct deposits,” including ACH transfers from many banks. When I did this a couple of years ago, I just scheduled an ACH from my local credit union (BECU).

The terms require the account to remain open until the 90-day qualification period ends, so it’s important to understand the requirements to avoid the $15 monthly fee. You could schedule a monthly $500 ACH deposit and then transfer most of it out to keep the account free, or leave $1,500 in the account. There’s no early termination fee if you close the account. Still, with Wells Fargo, it’s generally considered best practice to leave it open for at least a few months to avoid getting blacklisted from future bonuses.
