A federal judge dismissed a man’s lawsuit against a Massachusetts school district and its administrators for barring him from playing in an adult volleyball league held at a school building after he refused to wear a mask during the COVID-19 pandemic.

U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani for the District of Massachusetts dismissed Michael Bush’s lawsuit against the Acton-Boxborough Regional School District, as well as Superintendent Peter Light; Director of Community Education Erin O’Brien Bettez; and Assistant Superintendent for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Dawn Griffin Bentley, after determining the plaintiff had failed to state a claim against the defendants in a May 23 opinion.
