According to the U.S. Department of Justice, federal prosecutor Kathryn Drey of Pensacola, Florida, directed contracts from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida to companies in which her spouse had a financial interest.

Drey, 55, pleaded guilty on March 28, 2023, to illegally steering the contracts to her spouse, a violation of the federal criminal conflict of interest statute. According to a press release on the guilty plea, Drey concealed her spouse’s financial interest in contracts to conduct title searches in litigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office where she served as chief of the civil division.
