U.S. District Judge Alan Albright and his Waco, Texas courtroom are known for patent litigation—and lots of it.  

So, when litigators get a “first” in the judge’s courtroom, patent litigators take notice. That certainly was the case late last month when a team at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher with local counsel at Winston & Strawn scored the first directed verdict of no infringement from Albright three days into a trial they were handling for cloud computing company VMWare.
