U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman of the Southern District of New York on Tuesday dismissed a lawsuit against two New York City Police Department officers and ordered that the plaintiffs’ attorneys must each attend four hours of continuing legal education on federal practice and procedure after they repeatedly failed to meet deadlines in the case.

Liman found that the attorneys, all of whom work at the Queens-based firm Sim & DePaola, showed “a lack of interest in the case’s prosecution” after he partially granted a motion for summary judgment and allowed the plaintiff to move ahead with her malicious prosecution claim against the officers.
