In the spring of 2021, a private investigator approached the home of former Washington Commanders cheerleader Abigail Dymond Welch, who had recently reached a confidential settlement with the team following an August 2020 report by the Washington Post chronicling a lewd, nonconsensual video that team broadcasters made of team cheerleaders for owner Daniel Snyder back in 2008.

The investigator said he was former DEA, flashing a badge from his shirt pocket. “I believe (the badge) was to intimidate me, to get me to answer questions and think that I was obligated to answer his questions,” said Welch in testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Reform, which released a report last week on the NFL and the Commanders’ role in covering up ‘decades’ of sexual misconduct at the team.
