The Colorado district court has entered $4.2 million in statutory damages against Micfo, a defunct infrastructure as service company, for contributory and vicarious infringements of the copyrights of 28 movies.

The plaintiff companies are owners of the 28 works, which have 48 copyrights for the motion pictures and screenplays, according to the opinion. An anti-piracy provider, PML Process Management, was hired by the plaintiffs to monitor peer-to-peer networks for piracy of the works. In turn, PML engaged Maverickeye UG to detect piracy and to generate notices to be sent to the service providers of IP addresses where confirmed piracy was happening.
