An Illinois judge who issued a contempt order against Tom Girardi two year ago for stealing $2 million from clients has declined to sanction two former Girardi Keese partners, even though he believed both of them knew their boss “was running a Ponzi scheme with client money.”

U.S. District Judge Tom Durkin on Wednesday declined to sanction David Lira and Keith Griffin, who worked with Girardi on lawsuits brought over the 2018 Lion Air crash in Indonesia.
