A federal judge is allowing several of a former teacher’s employment discrimination claims to go forward against an independent school in Massachusetts, in which the plaintiff alleges he was wrongfully terminated on the basis of his and his son’s disabilities and for taking leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act.

Ronald F. Dantowitz, an astronomer, was hired by Dexter Southfield Inc., a private educational institution outside of Boston, in 2000 to serve as a faculty member and as the director of the Clay Center Observatory, an astronomical observatory that provides programming for students and members of the community, according to Judge Angel Kelley’s opinion filed Thursday.
