Drug manufacturer Allergan reached a $2.37 billion settlement with a bipartisan group of state attorneys general to resolve lawsuits over the opioid crisis.
The deal, announced by attorneys general in eight states, including California and Illinois, comes five days after another opioid manufacturer, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., reached a $4.25 billion deal to resolve thousands of lawsuits. Teva, which bought Allergan’s generics portfolio in 2016, said its settlement was contingent on Allergan reaching a similar deal.
